  28. This CD-Rom is designed to be viewed using an internet web browser 
  29. capable of handling "frames". The programs have been carefully tested
  30. to run in these popular browsers:
  31.  
  32. Microsoft
  33.    Internet Explorer 4.x
  34.    
  35. Netscape
  36.    Communicator 
  37.    Navigator 4.x (except 4.03, which has documented defects)
  38.    Navigator 3.04 or higher
  39.  
  40. Browsers from other vendors that can handle "frames" should work satis-
  41. factorily. If you do not have a browser installed on your computer, 
  42. contact us in New York City at (800) 225-2727 and we will send you a 
  43. free copy of Internet Explorer.  If you have an older version of one of
  44. the above browsers, you can download an upgrade by pointing your browser
  45. to either:

  56.                *** A special note to Mac Users using Netscape ***

  60.     Mac Users:  Due to particularities in the way Netscape handles 
  61.     HTML files coming off a CD-ROM, this disc will run many
  62.     times faster in Microsoft Internet Explorer than in Netscape.  
  63.     You can download a free copy of Internet Explorer at

  67.     Question:  Does that mean it won't work in Netscape?
  68.       Answer:  It works fine in Netscape-- just slower in loading -- 
  69.                especially the thumbnail pages.

  71.     Question:  If I download Internet Explorer, does that mean I can't use 
  72.                Netscape?
  73.       Answer:  You can have both browsers resident on your machine-- and
  74.                many people do.  Set your "default" browser to whichever 
  75.                one you generally prefer, and then, when you want to use 
  76.                the other one (such as with this disc) simply launch it 
  77.                and then select the disc.

  88. On a Macintosh:

  91. Insert your Comstock Klips CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
  92. Wait 10 seconds.  Your CD should launch automatically. 
  93.  
  94. If not:
  95.  
  96. 1.  If your browser's icon is not visible, drag it to your 
  97.     desktop.
  98. 2.  Double-click the CD icon on your desktop (if its folder
  99.     is not already open). 
  100. 3.  Drag the file "MacStart.htm" from the CD window
  101.     over the icon of your internet browser. 
  102. 4.  While the icon is still highlighted, let go.  (This will
  103.     launch your browser and open the homepage on the Klips CD.)

  106. On a PC (Windows 95 - Windows 98 - Windows NT)
  107. ----------------------------------------------

  109. Insert your Comstock Klips CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
  110. Wait 10 seconds. Your CD should launch automatically.

  112. If not:

  114. 1.  On your desktop, double-click "My Computer"
  115. 2.  Right-click on the CD icon and select "Open" from the menu
  116.     box.
  117. 3.  Inside the window that appears, double-click on the file 
  118.     "PC-ClickHereToStart.htm"

  121. On a PC (Windows 3.1)
  122. ---------------------

  124. Insert your Comstock Klips CD into your CD-ROM drive.
  125. Wait 10 seconds.  Your CD should launch automatically.

  129. 1.  From the Program Manager, open the folder "Main" and its
  130.     subfolder "File Manager".
  131. 2.  Select your CD-Rom drive by clicking its icon located 
  132.     towards the top of the screen.
  133. 3.  From the menu that appears, double-click on:
  134.     "PC-ClickHereToStart.htm"

  139.                     *** 3. How to access Image Data Files. ***

  143. On a Macintosh
  144. --------------

  146. 1.  Insert your Comstock Klips CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.  
  147.     -- The disk will probably Autolaunch
  148.     -- You can either leave the program running in your browser,
  149.        or you can close the browser
  150. 2.  Open the desktop design program of your choice, then select
  151.     "File" and then "Open."
  152. 3.  From the "Open" window within the design program, click 
  153.     the "Desktop" button and then double-click on the CD icon.
  154. 4.  Double-click on the "Image Data Files" folder 
  155. 5.  Double-click on the sub-folder of your choice: 
  156.     "Thumbnail Versions"  -- or -- 
  157.     "Comping Resolution Versions" -- or -- 
  158.     "High Resolution Versions".
  159. 6.  Double-click on the individual image(s) of your choice.

  163. On a PC (Windows 95 - Windows 98 - Windows NT)

  172. 3.  From the "Open" window, navigate your way to "My Computer"
  173.     and then double-click on the CD icon 
  174. 4.  Double-click on the "Image Data Files" folder 
  175. 5.  Double-click on the sub-folder of your choice: 
  176.     "Thumbnail Versions"  -- or -- 
  177.     "Comping Resolution Versions" -- or -- 
  178.     "High Resolution Versions".
  179. 6.  Double-click on the individual image(s) of your choice.

  186. 1.  Insert your Comstock Klips CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
  187. 2.  Open the desktop design program of your choice, then

  189. 3.  From the "Open" window, select your CD-ROM drive in the 
  190.     "Directories" box.
  191. 4.  Double-click on the "Image Data Files" folder 
  192. 5.  Double-click on the sub-folder of your choice: 
  193.     "Thumbnail Versions"  -- or -- 
  194.     "Comping Resolution Versions" -- or -- 
  195.     "High Resolution Versions".
